STRESS vs. THE HUMAN BRAIN

So I am officially the most stressed out I have ever been in my entire life (and for those of you that know me well know that that is a pretty serious statement! :)
On top of 23 credit hours of school (including an opera and a pretty intense practicum for music therapy) I am also working 40-50 hours at the most emotionally stressful job I have ever had. I am also trying to apply for music therapy internships and get all of my graduation paperwork through, and I am trying to prepare for a concerto recital in November. AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I have honestly hit a point where I think that this is physically and emotionally impossible!
So today, I had a slight break down and just decided that I didn't care how many things were on my list to do today, I needed a break! I skipped a class and went to one of my favorite coffee houses in Logan and just sat and people watched (one of my favorite things to do). It was SO relaxing and therapeutic for me! Then, I went home and grabbed my bike and rode to one of my favorite and secluded parks that I know of and ran for about 45 minutes around the park as hard and as fast as I could. (Completely exhausting, but SOOOO amazing!). After running so hard that my whole body felt like jello, I crashed on the grass and just sat there lying in the sun for about another half hour and just thought some things through that I had been pushing out of my mind for so long.
Ultimately, this is the realization that I have come to. I LOVE THE HUMAN BRAIN!! (maybe a weird statement, but it is just how I feel). It is amazing to me that no matter what we may be going through in life, if we choose to take the time to think things through and really evaluate our own feelings and sense of belonging, our own minds can be an amazing healing power that can carry us through anything.

I am so grateful for thoughts! I am so grateful for our ability to think through our emotions and problem solve and find solutions. I will tell you what, whoever or whatever higher power we all may believe in really did know what he was doing when he made the human brain. Ha! And that is all the random ramblings I have for the day! Love you all!

  1. That's so great! I glad for your cathartic moment and didn't realize you were taking 23 credits. Bless your heart hon. You're holding it together better than I am!
